Analysis of the current state of the recycling processes inside the textile industry in Bogotá D. C.
Abstract
In recent years, the textile industry has grown in Colombia and the world, a fact that has had a positive impact on employment and the economy of cities. However —from their manufacture to the use of the garments, the increase in the production and consumption of textiles has triggered several environmental problems generating post-industrial and post-consumer waste, which could be recycled or reused to step up the useful life of these products. Therefore, this research proposes to analyze the textile production processes in Bogotá D. C., and at the same time identify the barriers that prevent the recycling of textile waste from secondary sources. As a result, it is expected to outline the current manufacturing of textile products and waste generated at each stage, determining the principal causes that hinder textile reuse in Bogota D. C.
